On the seventh day it's time to explore the east side of the island!
The first stop will be at Terreiro da Luta.
The journey will continue towards the mountain of Pico do Areeiro. At an altitude of 1818 metres, it is the third highest peak on the island and offers breathtaking views.
Next you will descend towards the coast through the forest to the last of Madeira's emblematic straw houses. Passing picturesque villages and stunning seascapes, you will reach the easternmost point of the island, where you can enjoy superb views of the north and the sunny south coast in one panoramic vista.
On the northern slope of the island, the tour reaches a popular spot for levada walks, Ribeiro Frio. With its interesting trout ponds, this area still retains much of its original vegetation. The island was once completely covered by the Laurissilva forest, a relic from prehistoric times.
Lunch will be spent in Santana, known for its small thatched triangular houses.
Then you will head towards Ponta de São Lourenço, situated on the eastern part of the island, where there is a fantastic combination of rocks, sea and nature.
The last place to be visited will be Machico, a viewpoint from where you can see the bay and the golden sandy beach.
Accommodation: 4-star hotel in Funchal.
