Our tour begins on the south bank of the island, along the coast, overlooking the sea and the mountain of Lagoa do Fogo. The trail begins on a dirt path, passing through a forest of eucalyptus, incense and conteira trees, always favoring close contact with nature. It is also possible to observe a species of plant known as swordfish (a New Zealand plant) that was woven in an old factory whose ruins can still be visited. The trail has 2km until we reach the south bank of Lagoa do Fogo.
Along the way, there are several stops where you can enjoy the magnificent views of the island. Along the shores of the Lagoon, we will enjoy a snack and absorb the tranquility and calm of the most untouched lagoon in the Azores. As we descend in altitude, we will pass through areas of pasture and varied vegetation. Then, we drive to the port of Caloura where it is possible to take a dip in a natural pool. The activity ends with a walk along the south coast back to Ponta Delgada.
